THE WINTER BLUES

Well it happened, we have officially had our first snow storm, and I’m already starting to feel the winter blues. I’m sharing some things I like to do to beat the blues.

Being a new mom is such a change, there are so many changes in our home and i’m starting to learn so many new habits and routines as a stay at home mom. It involves coffee and note taking so you don’t forget things since you’re so tired! The winter blues is tough without a newborn baby, but it’s presenting new challenges with a newborn because we are limited to our outings and time we can spend outside, especially on a cold day, we don’t go out at all!

So it’s time to get creative and find things that can keep me busy and upbeat during the cold winter days when stuck inside.

One of the things I have been doing is setting intentions for each day when I wake up. Making a plan of how to spend my time while the baby is napping and making the list helps me to feel like I will have something to do. I love checking things off a list, it’s just so satisfying.

I am also putting more focus on my blog. Planning ahead blog posts and instagram posts. Working on content helps me to use my creative juices and get excited to implement them. If you don’t have a blog you can always start a craft project, or do something creative that you love. Painting, drawing, sewing whatever brings you joy!

Another thing I am doing to keep my mind active and stay busy is reading new books, but new books with a positive message or exciting plot, nothing sad of course. I am adding a few to my Christmas list so I can have those to read when I have some downtime. This will keep my mind busy and keep me engaged.
The books I’m asking for!
Eva Shockey’s Taking Aim
The Cartier’s: The Untold Story of the Family Behind the Jewelry Empire
A few other books I love
Little Fires Everywhere
American Royals

Lastly cooking. I love trying new recipes and have been so into Barefoot Contessa with Ina Garten. All of her seasons are on demand and I am getting so many delicious recipe ideas from her show. It’s a great way to keep busy and also add some new meals to the typical rotation that we have of meals. A new one I’m excited to try is her Parmesan Fennel Gratin, it’s a one dish bake and I think it would be yummy to serve with chicken. Heres one of her recipes that looks amazing. Crispy Mustard Roasted Chicken
