Last summer I made this yummy basil pesto from the basil plant we had on our deck. I am so excited to get the plant going again this year so I can make more!
Heres the recipe I use to make the most delicious pesto!
2 cups fresh basil leaves
2 garlic cloves
1/4 cup pine nuts or walnuts
2/3 cups extra virgin olive oil
1/4-1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
Add pine nuts or walnuts to the food processor and give them a rough chop. Add in the basil leaves and garlic gloves with a splash of olive oil.
Blend this all together and slowly pour in the remainder of olive oil while blending.
Add in the parmesan cheese, choose the amount or leave it out completely.
Salt and pepper to taste and give it one final blend.
Store in a mason jar or air tight container in the fridge for about two weeks. Double your batch to make enough for multiple meals.
